The Whooo’s Reading program offers a creative alternative to traditional reading programs. It is designed to not only assess student reading comprehension, but it helps to build writing skills as well. Although I was not certain how this age group of students would respond, they seemed to truly enjoy the program. They loved the fact that after the completion of each Whooo’s Reading test, they could earn points and buy items for their owl avatar. Teachers appreciated the open ended question format along with the fact that the questions were aligned with the TEKS. Having previously used other reading programs, teachers on this campus were very impressed with the results that they witnessed and insisted on continuing to utilize Whooo’s Reading.
